Astobiza is located in the DOP (Denominación de Origen Protegida) Txakoli of Álava. The special characteristics of the vineyard and the approach to production result in wines of distinct character and quality. The Astobiza wines are made exclusively with grapes grown in the estate, using a bodega and bespoke facilities built to support the vinification process.
The vineyard is at an altitude of 250m in the town of Oquendo, province of Álava, located in the outskirts of Bilbao. The property is 10 hectares that are divided into 7 areas. The grapes are protected by mountains and elevation from fog and Winter frost.
Astobiza uses 100% native grapes, chiefly Ondarrabi Zuri, a bit of Ondarrabi Zuri Zerratie (Petit Corbu), and also Izkiriota, also known as Gros Manseng.
Astobiza belongs to the Grandes Pagos de España, a group of winegrowers in Spain who are dedicated in body and soul to producing exceptional wines.
